Reflexology 3: Short History

It seems that ancient people had more detailed
spiritual information about human-body, and so
the wisdom of many layered -body had been known
from the Genesis time.

However, most famous is that one of pictures of
“Ankhmahor”’s tomb(c.2330 B.C.) at
“Saggara” in Egypt depicts a “reflexology session”.;
when a masseur says to a patient “ This massage
gives you some pain, however
you are to thank me afterwards”.

In India also, Yogis, or those well-trained on
Yoga(Path of Samadhi), have known well about
the secrets of multi-layered Bodies including Chakras,
Nadis and Reflex of more delicate energy systems.
Needless to say, Vedic tradition is of Human heritage.

And in China, “ Huang Di Nei Jing” is sort
of Bible of Chinese traditional medicine, more than
2000 years old, and deep insights about feet and
body are connected with the universe, material or
immaterial.
Taoists are also well known for their perfect
command of bodies.

In addition, the American Indian, especially
“Medicine man” knows some
reflex-healing methods of Body and this precious
knowledge has been handed down through
generations to this day.

Let me now introduce the modern history of
Reflexology. Reflexology of nowadays is said to be
actually rediscovered well by Dr. W. Fitzgerald
through his research called “ Zone Therapy” (1917),
and developed by Eunice Ingham through
her “Stories the Feet Can Tell”,
“Stories the Feet Have Told”.

Afterwards in 1970s and 1980s, thanks to
Hanne Marquardt(“Reflex Zone Therapy Of the Feet”) ,
Hedi Masafret(“Good Health For the Future”),
Fr. Josef Eugster, Kuan Yo Mo and other practitioners,
this reflexology has spread and gained popularity
as a safe and simple self-help method to protect
your health by yourself.

You might, if interested, have some information
about European reflexology and Asian reflexology.

Yes, indeed there are different ways in East and West,
however, target and objective are same in the end,
just different on the surface by different approaches.
European could be said that they regard the painful
as “not good”, however,
Asians think “No pain, no gain” and
that “Better medicine is bitter indeed.”

All in all, Health is Health for anyone.

Why not try to find out your self-help method by reflexology?
Bless you all.
